Use your iPad as a wireless hotspot

One of the problems with laptop computing is being able to access the internet wherever and whenever you want. An example of this is in a hotel room. On the face of it, this shouldn’t be an issue because nearly all hotels have Wi-Fi available. In most establishments, however, you tend to get a few minutes, if that, free, then you have to pay over the odds for the rest. Tethering is the neat and simple answer. With tethering, you can use your iPad’s 3G/4G facility as a mobile router. Connect this to your laptop and you have a fast data supply to hand.

1. Personal Hotspot
First, you need to activate Personal Hotspot on your iPad. Go to Settings>Personal Hotspot and swipe Personal Hotspot to On.

2. Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
Return to the main Settings screen. Tap Bluetooth and swipe its switch to On. Return to Settings, tap Wi-Fi and swipe Wi-Fi to On.

3. Look for network
Now go to your laptop and look for the network you just created with the iPad. Connect to it as you would a normal Wi-Fi network.

4. Enter password
On the laptop, enter the network password that you set up for your Personal Hotspot on the iPad. Click on Join to connect.
